Freebridge Supports Tenants to Gain a Fresh Start

Freebridge Community Housing hosted an event to officially open 25 brand new homes in Keeble Court, King’s Lynn today.

Freebridge Community Housing hosted an event to officially open 25 brand new homes in Keeble Court, King’s Lynn today.

Excited residents began moving into the new development, a mixture of houses and flats at the start of October, which have been built on the site of the former Pilot cinema. Guests at the launch included young campaigner Paris Larham, tenants living in the new homes, local councillors and other stakeholders.

Tony Hall, Chief Executive of Freebridge said: “Our mission is to deliver homes for people in west Norfolk, and the development at Keeble Court is a fantastic addition to the town. The project has captured the imagination of the community and hearing people’s memories about the old building is fascinating.

“It’s great to see residents moving in and turning the empty houses and flats into their home. We hope the people living there now and the families that move in over the coming years will be very happy.”

One of the guests, 14 year old Paris Larham, first contacted Freebridge when she found out about the redevelopment taking place at the Pilot cinema site. She had been writing a project on the building and its history and was keen to know about the plans for the new homes. Paris has continued to work alongside Freebridge on other projects and was updated throughout the development.

Paris Larham commented: “When I was younger I took a real shine to the cinema and was upset that it wasn’t being used anymore, so I decided to find out about the history of the building. At first I was sad about it being knocked down, but after talking with Freebridge I understood what was happening and why it is important to build new homes for people. I am really pleased that I have been able to work with Freebridge and I am so excited that I have been able to come along to the launch today, and look at the finished homes.”

Each of the 25 properties has its own parking space, with the houses having individual gardens.
