Applying for Housing

Freebridge is a member of West Norfolk Homechoice and as such does not accept direct applications for housing. All applications for housing must be made to the West Norfolk Housing Register, administered by the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk, General Housing Services, King's Court, Chapel Street, King's Lynn, Norfolk PE30 1EX.

Copies of the necessary forms are available at the Freebridge Office and Freebridge staff may be able to help fill them in if needed.

The Borough Council will assess completed application forms in order to determine, firstly, their eligibility to apply for assistance with accommodation and, thereafter, the relative priority to be afforded to the application within West Norfolk Homechoice. The criteria applied by the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk, in regard to both eligibility and relative priority is detailed in the 'A Guide to West Norfolk Homechoice' provided to all applicants, a copy of which is available upon request from the Borough Council or Freebridge Community Housing.

Those applicants eligible for help with affordable rented housing will receive notification from the Borough Council of this, together with the relative priority of their application on the West Norfolk Housing Register, the date of their application and guidance on how to express their interest and choice for accommodation advertised by West Norfolk Homechoice.

Applicants who are successful in bidding for a Freebridge home will be contacted by our Housing Staff and an assessment process will be carried out before we decide whether a tenancy will be offered to the applicant/s.

It should be noted therefore that a successful bid for a vacant Freebridge Community Housing property does not act as a guarantee of a tenancy being allocated. The decision as to whether a tenancy will proceed, following a successful bid via West Norfolk Homechoice, will be taken by our Housing Staff following an assessment process which will - for every allocation of tenancy - feature a face-to-face interview with the prospective applicant/s.
