Freebridge Community Housing Gets a Share of 8.4 Billion Pounds for New Affordable Homes for West Norfolk

Working with development partnership e2, Freebridge has secured just over £1.5m in grant from the Housing Corporation’s National Affordable Housing Programme for 2008 – 2011.   The grant funding will contribute to Freebridge’s first development programme of approximately 45 new homes, likely to cost almost £5.5m in total.
On receiving the eagerly anticipated news, Chief Executive of Freebridge Community Housing, Tony Hall said, “Against a backdrop of more than 6,000 people on the Social Housing Register and in need of housing, this is very good news for West Norfolk and for Freebridge.”
Freebridge Chairman, Michael Stone added, “The Board has made its vision for a Freebridge that is growing in order to meet housing need locally, very clear.  This news is also very exciting for our existing tenants, who have voiced their aspirations to see more investment in affordable homes for rural communities”
The Housing Corporation’s National Affordable Housing Programme standards are high and the grant will need to deliver good quality, energy efficient, value for money homes.
With this grant funding secured, Freebridge is looking forward to working with local authority planners and development partners to get the programme underway.
