Our Board

The Board leads and oversees Freebridge. This includes setting the budget and overall strategy, developing the business plan and monitoring performance. The Board is accountable to the shareholders – which means it reports into shareholders.

Andy Walder

Chair

Andy retired from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) in 2016 where he was responsible for all the CITB’s training colleges across the UK, training over 30,000 learners every year and working closely with construction companies, clients, and developers. He set up training venues for the London Olympics, Crossrail, JCB and was instrumental in setting up the first Construction University Technical College with the University of Wolverhampton. Andy’s earlier experience was in asset management and running multiple site licensed retail outlets for major companies such as Allied Domecq and Whitbread. Andy is currently a Director of the Ad Meliora Academy Primary School Trust in King’s Lynn, a Governor at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Trust and an Honorary Doctor of Technology at the University of Wolverhampton. He is married to Karen, who was born in King's Lynn, and they have two  daughters who have grown up in the area.

Gill Rejzl

Vice Chair

Gill worked as part of the project team that delivered the transfer of the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk's housing stock to Freebridge Community Housing, in 2006.  Following the transfer, she worked for Freebridge as Business and Performance Manager. Gill went on to take up the position of Company Secretary at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust, where she supported the hospital's Board of Directors and corporate governance work for more than a decade, before her retirement from full-time employment in 2020. Gill is currently Chair of the Board of the College of West Anglia and has lived in West Norfolk for many years.  

Anita Jones

Chief Executive

Anita joined Freebridge in August 2020 from Havebury Housing in Bury St Edmunds, where she was Director of Operations and Deputy CEO since 2012.

Joanna Barrett

Jo has worked in the housing sector for many years in the local authority, housing association, consultancy and for profit sectors. Jo is currently Strategy and Assurance Director at Eastlight Community Homes. Jo lives in North Norfolk with her partner and three children.

Donald Mckenzie

Donald is a chartered accountant with a strong background in finance, treasury, governance, risk management and auditing. He has significant experience in the housing sector and is currently employed as Director of Corporate Finance and Deputy Company Secretary at Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association.

Vicky Savage

Vicky is a senior leader in the housing sector, with a strong background in housing management and development. She is currently employed as Group Director of Development and Sales at L&Q Housing Trust and has experience in overseeing major developments. She is originally from West Norfolk, and so is well acquainted with the area and the issues it faces.

Gil Fernandes

Originally from Porto, in Portugal, Gil is a Freebridge tenant and has lived in Norfolk since 2008.  He worked in various roles in manufacturing before becoming an holistic therapist, specialising in Reiki and meditation, in 2017.  Since then, he has worked for Social Services, supporting vulnerable children in residential care homes and hospitals.  He is now a complex care specialist and working as a Team Leader in this field.  He is also studying to become a psychotherapist. 

James Allen

James is a Senior Business Analyst with significant experience in data analysis, business analysis and stakeholder management. James lives with his family in West Norfolk and through direct experience has an interest in support and provision for people with disabilities. James holds a masters degree in Data Science from the University of Hertfordshire.

Jo Ward

Prior to joining the Board, Jo has worked with Freebridge since January 22 as an Independent Member of the Audit and Risk Committee.  With her background in Environment, Health and Safety working for a global pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organisation, she brings experience in these fields to support Freebridge’s corporate strategy.
