We’re looking for an Empties Clearance Operative to join our DLO team at Freebridge Community Housing.

As an Empties Clearance Operative, you’ll play a vital role in preparing void properties and gardens for new tenants. You’ll work closely with other operatives and inspectors to ensure properties are cleared safely, efficiently, and in line with health and safety standards. This is a field-based role where no two days are the same, and your work will directly contribute to the quality of life for our residents.

Our Freebridge Community Housing goal is to provide affordable, safe, and quality homes for current and future generations, for those who need a place to call home. Freebridge was set up in 2006, to receive the transfer of the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk’s housing stock. We now have over 7500 properties across west and north Norfolk, in addition to building new homes for social and affordable rent, and to support those who want to move into shared home ownership. We’ve had numerous achievements, including delivering our tenants' promises and bringing homes to the Decent Homes Standard, affording our customers a much better quality of living. Requirements

What you’ll be doing:

  • Clearing void properties and gardens in a timely and safe manner

  • Working with the voids team to maintain clean and tidy environments

  • Reporting repairs and housing management issues to the appropriate team members

  • Identifying and reporting abandoned vehicles

  • Removing graffiti, bulky waste, and cleaning out buildings

  • Sorting and recycling items to reduce waste and maximise value

  • Performing general garden and tree clearance when required

  • Maintaining and testing equipment as needed

  • Complying with all Health & Safety and risk assessment procedures.

Knowledge & Experience

What we’re looking for:

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH

  • Understanding of hazards such as infectious diseases, electrical risks, and sharp object disposal

  • Experience in cleaning duties and basic building maintenance

Skills & Attributes:

  • Team player with the ability to work independently

  • Good judgement in hazardous or stressful situations

  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise tasks

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing needs

  • Willingness to respond to emergencies outside normal hours.
