We’re looking for a Trade Skilled Operative – Painter & Decorator at Freebridge Community Housing to join our dedicated Property Services team. In this field-based role, you’ll carry out a variety of maintenance and construction tasks, using your trade expertise to deliver high-quality work that meets the Freebridge Standard and exceeds customer expectations.

Our Freebridge Community Housing goal is to provide affordable, safe, and quality homes for current and future generations, for those who need a place to call home. Freebridge was set up in 2006, to receive the transfer of the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk’s housing stock. We now have over 7500 properties across west and north Norfolk, in addition to building new homes for social and affordable rent, and to support those who want to move into shared home ownership. What you’ll be doing:
Trade Maintenance & Repairs – Carry out painting and decorating tasks to a high standard, ensuring compliance with the Freebridge Standard and industry best practice.
Problem Solving – Use your initiative and trade experience to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
Customer Communication – Keep customers informed about work progress and timescales in a clear and respectful manner.
Health & Safety – Work safely at all times, ensuring the safety of yourself, colleagues, customers, and the public.
End-to-End Task Management – Manage tasks from pre-inspection through to completion, including ordering materials and completing documentation.
Team Collaboration – Work as part of the wider Property Services team, supporting colleagues and contributing to team success.
Equipment Care – Maintain and inspect tools, vehicles, PPE, and other equipment to ensure safety and readiness.
Material Management – Order, store, and use materials efficiently, minimising waste and maintaining accurate records.
Record Keeping – Maintain accurate and auditable records of all work and activities.
Brand Representation – Ensure your vehicle, uniform, and conduct positively reflect the Freebridge brand.
What we’re looking for:
City & Guilds (or equivalent) trade qualification in painting & decorating
Advanced craft or formal apprenticeship in trade skill
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a maintenance environment
Up-to-date training in health & safety and ladder use
Ability to carry out tasks in a clean and safe manner
Ability to use ICT mobile systems and complete auditable paperwork
Commitment to excellent customer service
Commitment to working safely and efficiently
Strong integrity and pride in workmanship.
