Launching our new Aids and Adaptations Explainer
2026-01-07
We’re excited to announce the launch of our new video explainer, designed to help you understand how Freebridge’s Aids and Adaptations Policy works and how it can support you or your loved ones.
What is the Aids and Adaptations Policy?
Our policy is all about helping customers live independently and comfortably in their homes for as long as possible. If you have difficulties with daily activities due to age, illness, disability, or other reasons, we’re here to help with practical changes to your home.
Who Can Get Help?
The service is available to Freebridge customers living in general needs, sheltered, or supported accommodation who:
- Have trouble with daily tasks or mobility
- Need help with personal care, like bathing or using the toilet
(Please note: Leaseholders and owner-occupiers are not included.)
What Support Is Available?
We offer a range of support, including:
- Minor adaptations (like grab rails, easy-turn taps, or key safes)
- Major adaptations (such as level access showers, stair lifts, or wet rooms), often in partnership with your local council
- Advice, information, and referrals to other services
- Help with moving to a more suitable home if needed
How to Apply
You can apply for adaptations through:
- Your Occupational Therapist or GP
- The your local council's home improvement agency
- Directly to us, or through a representative
Our Commitment
We aim to make the process as simple and accessible as possible. We can provide information in different formats, offer extra support if you need it, and work with you to find the best solution, even if your first request isn’t possible.
