Freebridge Makes Community Impact in South Lynn

2022-06-09

Listening to customers, clearing away rubbish, and carrying out repairs were some of the ways that Freebridge made a difference in South Lynn during the housing association’s Out and About Community Impact Week in March.

Taking place between 14th and 18th March, the week saw employees from across Freebridge spend time in the community and lend a hand in a number of ways.

This included by visiting Freebridge customers at home to identify any concerns, issues, or repairs. In total, the team visited 185 homes.

As a result of the visits, repairs were raised and followed up, and some outstanding repairs were completed.

And, as well as collecting four tonnes of waste from fly tips and garden clearance, a community litter pick also resulted in 68 bags of litter being gathered from communal locations, street paths, and wider community facilities.

Following on from the week, a number of return visits are now taking place to support customers further.

Working together is key to the week which saw employees from both customer-facing and internal roles take part alongside volunteers from Morrisons. Sophie Bates, Director of Customers and Communities explained: “The Out and About Community Impact Week allows our team to come together and make a concerted difference within an area.

“It provides us with the opportunity for us to meet with our customers face to face, which we know is important to them and to us – particularly after the last two years when this hasn’t always been feasible.

“And, the week presents us with the chance to see for ourselves what our customers and communities might need, how we can help, and then make a tangible impact by carrying out repairs and tackling littering and fly tipping.

“I’m grateful for the support of all our employees and our friends from Morrisons who joined us in making the South Lynn Out and About Community Impact Week such a success.”

The Out and About Community Impact Weeks take place quarterly across communities in west Norfolk. The next one is planned for Monday 9th May in North Lynn.

Freebridge would welcome any community groups, partners and local residents who would like to get involved in future Out and About Community Impact Weeks: more details will be made available on Freebridge’s Facebook page.
