Our Support Fund is here to help customers struggling with oil costs
2026-04-07
Many of you will be aware of our Support Fund, which exists to support customers who are experiencing financial hardship.
We’ve always taken a flexible approach to meeting a wide range of needs when it comes to allowing our customers access to this fund, be it for food and energy support, or help with essential household items.
However, with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East there has been a global spike in oil prices.
We understand that this has caused an increasingly urgent challenge for many of our customers who rely on oil to keep their homes warm.
We know that a significant percentage of our homes are not connected to the gas network, meaning that many Freebridge customers rely on oil for heating and hot water.
Unlike gas and electricity, where customers can pay in smaller, more manageable amounts, oil must be purchased in bulk - and recent increases mean that the cost of filling a tank has risen sharply.
With that in mind, we have decided that the Support Fund will primarily focus on supporting customers with the cost of oil over the next three months (a small proportion of the fund will remain available for other urgent needs).
As well as our Support Fund, please be aware that there are other avenues of support you can follow for help with the cost of oil.
Such as:
Thinking Fuel: This is Community Action Norfolk's community oil buying scheme. They help thousands of members order fuel collectively - saving time and money. It's free to register to be part of the scheme. You can order oil on any working day of the month and still get a competitive price.
BoilerJuice: Pay monthly for your next heating oil order with our Payment Plan.
Certas Energy: Simple monthly payment plans.
Watson Fuels: Pay for home heating oil in twelve manageable instalments - no tie-ins, no surprises.
Goff Heating: Monthly Plan that enables you to you to spread the cost of your heating oil, and at the same time build up a balance to use for future orders.
If you are a Freebridge customer who is struggling with the rising cost of oil, please do call us on 0333 240 4444 and ask to speak to a colleague regarding our Support Fund.
