Emergency Alert Test this Sunday

2025-09-02

This weekend, the UK Government will run a nationwide test of the Emergency Alerts system.

If your mobile phone is connected to a 4G or 5G network, you’ll receive a loud siren-like sound and vibration lasting up to 10 seconds on Sunday (September 7th) at around 3pm.

A message will appear on your screen that will confirm that it’s just a test and that no action is needed.

The full text of the test message will read:

"This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a UK government service that will warn you if there’s a life-threatening emergency nearby.

"You do not need to take any action. In a real emergency, follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and others safe.

"Find simple and effective advice on how to prepare for emergencies at gov.uk/prepare."

In a real emergency, this system helps keep people safe by delivering urgent alerts directly to mobile phones.
